Chettinad Vidya Mandir marked India’s 78th Independence Day with a grand celebration at the school. The event featured a flag-hoisting ceremony, a guard of honour, and guest speeches in the amphitheater. Learners and teachers worked together to set up the decorations, including flags and rangolis, a day before the event.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Tennyson Premkumar, accompanied by the Mentor of CVM, Mr. Aniruddha Kar, made their way around the event, receiving salutes from the Captains and Vice Captains of each House during the Guard of Honour.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Tennyson Premkumar, a former Senior Non-Commissioned Officer in the Air Force, delivered an inspiring speech sharing his experiences in service and life principles. He emphasised the importance of split second decisions in shaping lives and urged learners to respect others’ differences for a harmonious nation. Highlighting the achievements of people like Sunitha Williams, Kalpana Chawla, Rishi Sunak, Kamala Harris, and Sundar Pichai, he underscored India’s unique and unparalleled freedom, encouraging everyone to honour it by giving back to the nation.

After the flag hoisting, learners participated in the Gallery Walk, where they explored Idea Stations and artworks. The displays showcased patriotic themes, with puzzles and games featuring patriotic terms. A skit depicting the freedom struggle captivated the audience, and the learners in Grade 12 impressed visitors with their enactments highlighting the lives of several freedom fighters. The event concluded with the Mentor honouring the Chief Guest, followed by a vote of thanks.

After the event, parents and friends expressed their appreciation for the hard work and dedication that made the celebration so memorable.
